Thought for this day!

I went through a lot this past few days. I spent some time alone to recollect and reflect on what's happening on my life right now. I have this habit of coaching myself when I'm down and suddenly I told myself, "What doesn't kill you will make you stronger!". Wow! What a nice mantra! Hehehe...Anyway, i tried googling for that statement and looked what I've found out..
This is taken from

What Doesn't Kill You Will Make You Stronger

Connie Glaser

Are you resilient? No matter what kind of position you hold Ñ from sales manager to CEO Ñ in our economy and in today's work environment, professional disappointments are inevitable. Stock prices can (and do) plummet; key support personnel may routinely let you down; your division can unexpectedly be restructured. The possibilities for setbacks are endless. And the same goes for your personal life.

The next time you experience a career roadblock, it may help to remember that professional jolts Ñ believe it or not Ñ can actually be a good thing. Once you make up your mind to use a frustrating work experience as a tool that can give you a different perspective, you're well on your way to bouncing back big time.

Below are some catch phrases that might be considered clichŽs by those who choose to dwell on disappointment. But those who refuse to set aside their expectations because of an unfortunate obstacle or two will admit that the following tips can make the difference between a professional speed bump and a dead end. Those who have weathered scandal, setbacks, disappointments or disgrace know only too well that Nietzsche's advice to those in need of resilience was to remember that "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger."

1. Are you overinvested in your career?
If you remember to inject balance in your life, it will help to diminish the effects of a downturn in one particular area. If you have good relationships, activities outside of your workplace and some sort of spiritual influence in your life, then what happens at the office won't be the only thing on your mind.

2. Life will go on.
Believe it or not, a professional disappointment does not cause the earth to stop rotating. The sun will rise tomorrow; Thanksgiving will still appear on the calendar, and each day, week, month and year provides the opportunity to turn things around and recover your lost professional peace of mind.

3. This, too, shall pass.
When you're in the middle of a chaotic situation, it's difficult to imagine that life will ever be different, but it helps in both good times and bad to remember that change is the only thing you can really count on. It doesn't pay to get too exuberant when things are going well or to be too devastated when they're not.

4. Be proud of the attempt.
Remember "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest?" In the movie, Jack Nicholson had a wager that he could accomplish something that really was impossible. When he failed and others laughed at him, he was able to walk out of the room with his head held high because, as he put it, "Well, at least I tried."

5. Rewrite your goals.
If you re-evaluate what is truly important to you or where you really want to be going, then whatever bad thing has happened might not seem so dire. It is OK to change direction in life.

6. List your lessons.
If you weathered a rough patch in your career, it can be useful to take a step back and ask yourself what you've learned from the experience. Try to look at the circumstances and the individuals involved from an objective viewpoint. There is always something to be learned.

7. Lemons = Lemonade and Eggs = Omelets.
The French suggest that if you break an egg, you can make an omelet, and Americans urge people who find themselves with lemons to make lemonade. It may take a while to discover the possibilities of your disappointing circumstances, but something good is likely to be there.

8. Take the long view.
It might seem as if your current situation is "The Worst." But, if you can detach yourself from what happened this year and think in terms of how important it is in the long run, it somehow dilutes the damage. Ask yourself the question "Will this matter 10 years from now?" when you're feeling particularly low, and it might give you a clean slate with which to evaluate what has happened to you.

N70 @ Plan 1800 part 2

Eventhough I have a sore back and have taken a sick leave from the office, I still need to pay some bills that are due for the day. So, I have to get up from my bed and head to the nearest SM mall where I can pay my bills.By the way, my back still hurts, but it's good that I was able to read up on the net that applying hot/cold compress will be beneficial in such a way that it will relieve the soreness of the muscle. Furthermore, I have to go to Smart Wireless Center to inquire again about their promo (my mom is really bugging me!). Anyway, I signed up for the "switcher" option. This option requires to present the latest 2 months worth of your current bill, so they may be able to deduce from that info if you are qualified to be classified as a "switcher". Good thing, my mom keeps her monthly receipts in order, so I was able to present the latest receipts that she had. I was told that the minimum waiting time before they inform you if you are qualified or not is 1 week. At the same time, the plan is also subject to the availability of the units. I know N70 is really a hot commodity in their current promo but what the heck, my mom is really bugging me! And, the saga continues...

Ouch!

We had a basketball game against the Vortex team last night and after 4 losses, we finally notched a win. The bad news is I have a sore back due a strain muscle. Actually, I didn't get it from playing, but it did aggravate it. The culprit could be my posture while sitting because I have a bad habit of slouching. At the same time, the aircon is turned on in such a different level nowadays ( yes, it is summer that's why!) and coupled with the fact that I perspire a lot especially when I arrive in the office. I think parang "nalamigan" ang likod ko. Damn! I could list all of my excuses for having a sire back, but one thing is for sure. I think I'm getting old! :)

Nokia N70 available @ plan 1800

Last weekend, I've read in the newspaper that Smart is offering the Nokia N70 @ plan 1800. Actually, it's Nokia N70 and 6680 for plan 1800 and Nokia N90 for plan 2500. I think this promo is for their 3G campaign to make users switch to 3G-enabled phones.

I'm a long time Globe user, so I went to Glorietta last Sunday to check if Globe will launched a promo that will rival that of Smart. Consequently, Globe has also a 3G promo with the same set of phones. My problem now is the N70 @ plan 1800 is only available to switchers. Meaning, these people are subscribed to a rival network and who have been wanting to switch sides as to speak. Just to keep it short and simple, I'm not qualified to avail of that promo.

As for subscribing to Smart, actually, I want to avail this because my mom is already bugging me to replace her phone. I think I won't have any problems in subscribing to Smart because it will be my first time and most likely I'll be approved. The only thing that hinders me now is the fact that nobody can "open line" the N70 thus, I won't be able to use it because I'm using a Globe SIM. I'm planning to use the N70 and give my 9 month old 6680 to my mom. Hehehe...ang bad ko no?

Oh well, I think the promo will last until the end of March, so I still have time to think about it.

What do you think?

Peso is surging... 50 to a dollar in sight!

I'm pretty much concern on the current peso-dollar exchange situation. Since I've been stocking up on dollars since last year, I can't help, but look back if I really did the right thing. Waaahhh! Can the government do something about this? This scenario is hurting our exporters and at the same time our OFWs. The OFWs who we regard as our hero and savior are the very same people who are affected by this situation. A strong peso will only mean less peso for their dollar. Damn! Have mercy to the people who are earning in dollars.

Take a look at this article from Business World Online.

Cebu Pacific P10 @ 10

The morning of March 3, I was browsing through a newspaper and I happen to read the full page advertisement of Cebu Pacific. At first, I didn't pay attention to it because for sure, it will all just be extra burden to my already weary wallet. And besides, the promo is valid only from March 3 to 8 and travel duration should be from June 20 to Oct 18. That's off peak season. Off peak = rainy season. No use to go and visit places because rain will just spoil your day.

I wasn't really convinced of booking a flight until I read from another forum that a forumer was able to book a flight (MNL-Puerto Prinsesa) for only 1,600 ++ including taxes. I don't want to believe it until I see it with my very own eyes.

On the day when the promo started, the whole morning and afternoon of March 3, the Cebu Pacific online booking system was experiencing system problems due to the sudden upsurge of users connecting to their sight. The call center @ 70 20 888 was virtually useless because I can't get through. Luckily, at around 4 in the afternoon, I was able to get through and test their online booking system. I was thinking of booking either a Kalibo or a Tagbilaran flight and since we have plans of going to Boracay this summer, Tagbilaran is the next best choice.

I was able to book a MNL-Tagbilaran-MNL flight for only 3304.00. That's already for two and a round trip ticket at that! Wow! So see you guys @ Bohol by September.

EuroStar

Vane and I was able to catch the last day of EuroStar Carnival at the Fort. We arrived there at around 9:30 pm and during weekdays, the carnival closes at 12 midnight. So, I thought it would be a good idea if we'll just pay the entrance fee of 150 pesos and just buy tokens later just in case we decided to try their carnival rides. Nevertheless, we still availed of the 300 ride-all-you-can ticket because I realized that we'll get our money's worth if we get that option.

There are numerous extreme rides at Eurostar that are never before seen in the local carnival scene. Rides like Booster, Joker, Flipper, Ranger are just some of the names that I recall.

We ate first our dinner before we started enjoying the carnival rides. By the way, the 300 ride-all-you-can ticket includes a 50 peso food stub. Our stomach is full and my gf is not that agreeable in trying those extreme rides. We enjoyed the ferris wheel, the bump car, carousel and the jungle log jam (I forgot the actual name).

We wasted 500 pesos worth of tokens in trying to win some of those loony tunes stuff toys, too bad I wasn't so lucky as before ( the week before, we went to Star City and we won a jumbo stuff toy).

All in all, we had a blast. It was our post Valentines celebration because I was too busy with work and school that we didn't have the chance to relax and bond together.

I'll post some of our pictures later. :)...Pictures are now posted!
