Billiards Again!

Their original plan is to play billiards on Thursday night (Friday is a holiday), but they wanted to have a warm up session a day before. The destination? Rolling Stones @ Malate of course. I wasn't really keen on playing that night because I wasn't given the permission to go out by my mom. Still, I played. Call me a billiard addict huh!

Earl, Mike, JJ, Pat(JJ's gf), Kaye and I were there around 11. JJ and I played 9 balls while Earl and Mike rented the adjacent table. While playing, the attendant asked us if we are open to playing money games, sort of a bet, against two ladies(Jacq and Zobelle) whom were playing beside us. The game was 8 Balls-Doubles, race to 5 and the bet was just to pay the table fees. Jacq and Zobelle raced to a 3-0 lead because JJ and I can't seem to find our shots. We finally heaved a sigh of relief when I was able to rack up some balls and got win number 1. The relief was shortlived though. Zobelle was able to capitalize on our mistakes and made it 4-1. We gazed at the possiblity of being routed by these ladies, so we buckle down to work. We strung up some racks and made the count 4-4. It was an exciitng game and it went down to the last ball. The ladies had luck on their side and they won 5-4. (Luck daw e no? Ayaw pa aminin na tinalo kami hehehe).

We wanted to avenge our loss, so we asked for another race to 5 bet. They obliged, but they wanted a shorter one. Race to 3 it is. We started hot and we had a strangle hold on the lead via 2-0. I don't know what happened, but the ladies managed to rally and win the game, 3-2. Oh my! I don't want to make any excuses pero malas lang talaga e. Babalikan namin ni JJ yun promise! Hehehehe.

JJ and I asked Earl and Mike if they wanted to play some 8 balls doubles game with the table fee as the bet, just like the game we played against Zobelle and Jacq. This time we won, 2-1. We had to call it a night because everybody is tired and weary. Besides, there is another billiards gimik coming.

This time there were no pictures taken. Sayang! Zobelle was good looking pa naman. :) Anyway, next time I'll have the guts to ask for her pics. I was too focus on winning the game e, eh talo din naman e hehehehe.

Teloworks Basketball @ Rockwell

I think this is the biggest turnout that we've ever had in terms of basketball participation. We played at the Rockwell Power Plant. The court fee amounts to 1.6K ( 800/hr.). The court condition is less ideal than what we had at the Reyes gym in Mandaluyong. The only positive thing going for Rockwell is its proximity to our work place. Still, I don't think we'll come back here to play again unless we'd like to risk breaking our limbs while playing hehehehe. As always, here are the pics:

Everything about Angelica

Angelica's TV interview admitting that she was indeed the calendar model of Ginebra. She also mentioned that the shoot didn't undergo any photo enhancement.

She surely didn't anticipate that somebody is going to release her actual photo shoot pics.

Rollin' with Rolling Stone

Finally, I had the chance to hang out with the "tropa." Our destination was Rolling Stone located at Adriatico St. Malate, Manila. It was my first time to play there and it was quite an experience. The table condition was not as good as the tables in MCS and Efren's nonetheless, they made up for it through their quick service and affordable menu.

I arrived there first and after some minutes, Beng, Earl and Mike arrived. We waited for our turn to get our table since all tables were taken. We played 9 balls and challenge-the-winner format. After nearly an hour, Kaye joined us. Beng and Kaye played against each other with Kaye winning the game or was it Beng? Hehehe, I already forgot. I almost fell asleep watching their game. Hehehe...Just kidding guys...

I was unlucky to be on the receiving end of lucky 9 ball shots (yeah, shots...with an "s" ok?) by Earl and Mike. But later in the night, lady luck smiled on me because I was able to score on a golden break (i.e. the 9 ball dropped into the pocket) against Earl. Mike was trying to fine tune his shotmaking by giving the ball a soft touch. Earl showed flashes of great pocketing. Mike and Earl are planning to buy their own cue sticks. This is definitely a good move and it could very well improve their level of play. Speaking of cue sticks, I might post a blog entry about that. Anyhoo...

All in all, we had fun and I also had the chance to take a look at Mike's new baby. New baby huh? Just ask Mike about it, okei? :)

As usual, the gimik won't be complete without the "kodakan" moments. Looking forward to the next billiard gimik. :)

Giving a Helping Hand

My manager's husband was confined at the Asian General Hospital at Alabang. Apparently, he was afflicted with dengue and he needed Type O blood. My manager was asking if there are willing donors in the office.

Joy, Nikki, Bel, Cands, Lindsay, Joe and I answered the call. Jimmy brought us to the Asian Hospital. It was my first time to go there and I could see that this hospital is really for the upper echelon of our society.

All of us were interviewed and screened. Luckily Joy, Joe and I were able to pass it. The interview process and screening really took so long, so in order to pass time, we had some Kodak moments. Typical ephil activity huh! Here are our pictures..BY the way, we hope and pray for the immediate recovery of Ms. Maidette's husband (Sir Ric). Get well soon, Sir Ric. :)

Billiards Hopping

It's been moths since I've gone out with my barkada. We are pretty much occupied with work that's why we forgot to unwind and get together once in a while.

Jason and I planned this billiard get together. I also just celebrated my birthday and it's a perfect time to meet up again. Also, it is the time to make "libre" hehehehe. If I remember it right last year, Jason, Majeed and I also celebrated my birthday by playing billiards in Malate. This time Eric joined us and it was a very opportune time for him to show us his new ride...A slightly new Mazda 3! Oh my! Eric has really gone a long way now. He now owns a new ride and it's really one of a kind given Eric's taste when it comes to cars. Too bad, I was not able to take a picture of his car.

Our first stop was at the Puyat Hall at the Makati Cinema Square. As usual, we were playing 9 balls, challenge the winner style. We partake of sodas and cheese logs while playing. We didn't know that MCS' schedule is only up to 11:30, so we have to cut short our stay there.

Next stop was Efren's Magic at Pasong Tamo Extension. The table condition there was good. They were using the same tables that Puyat used at the MCS. Same rates, 175/hr. The place is conducive for billiard tournaments because of the number of tables present and the generous amount of space around the tables. Too bad, it is located in the basement and Globe's signal is non existent there.

Next stop is at the Aisle Tapsilugan at Boni. We used to eat here when we were studying in college. We got our usual order of Tapsilog together with soda. Imagine, we ordered 3 tapsilogs, 3 extra garlic rice and 1 Pop Cola Litro and our bill amounted to 150 only. Pretty cheap right? At this point, Emon joined us bringing his own car because Eric had to do some errand.

Next stop was Gutson's Metrowalk. We walked into the place and really packed. There was one table available and we were waiting for someone to approach us. Too bad, the attendant there was not that attentive to the customers' needs. Also, the condition of the table is quite lame. We thought it is just a waste of time to play in here, so we decided to just transfer somewhere else.

Final stop was at SMAP Pasay Road. They have 2 tables available for playing. It is 180/hr, but you have to order some drinks before you can play. Pretty much the same style that Star's Venue used to implement in its billiard hall. By the way, Star's Veneu used to be some blocks away from SMAP, but I guess business is slow, so they closed it down. My friend Majeed once celebrated his birthday in that place. Anyway, we played 8 balls, one team (group of 2) against the other. The formidable duo of Majeed and Pau (hehehehe!) had the upper hand throughtout the game. I guess we were just lucky that night hehehehe. We ended the night by playing a sudden death 9-balls game. At around 5am in the morning, we split up. Jason had to go with Emon while Eric took care of Majeed and me. Eric was kind enough to frop me home. :)

Hey Chris! If you're reading this, we did miss your presence. Lets play billiards again when you come back. Ayt? :)

Here are the kodak moments:

Leslie's Tagaytay

It's Friday Night and it's gimik night. For a change, we headed south to Tagaytay to have dinner and at the same time, enjoy the company of a good ole friend, Jun. I was excited because it will be my first time to eat at Leslie's. I've been meaning to eat here for the longest time, but plans always miscarry. This time there is no stopping me in partaking their famous bulalo.

It was freaking cold out there. I wasn't prepared for it. All of the guys have brought their sweaters and jacket. Too bad, I didn't bring mine. I thought I could bear it, good thing I didn't catch a cold after.

We all had a good time. This is the kind of gimik that I truly enjoy because we get to go some other place far from the polluted and congested city of Makati. Gimiks that I will forever cherished (senti! hahaha!). Here are our pics:

Christmas Wish List

It's 40 days before Christmas. Some weeks from now, the 13th month pay will be release. I'm pretty much sure you have a Christmas wish list tucked somewhere. Whether its a new cellphone, an ipod, a new PC or laptop, a home theater system or whatever wish you have, I'm pretty much sure you're already itching to have it. As for me, here is my wish list. I'm pretty much sure I won't be able to have them all, but who cares? It's a wish after all...

The Samsung 940bw, a 19" widescreen LCD. I saw this lcd monitor from my officemate, Jack. He brought his lcd monitor to the office at the time of typhoon Milenyo because his place has no electricity yet. Since then, I've been salivating to buy one for myself. At the same time, I've heard that Silicon Valley is offering the said monitor for 13500, payable via credit card in 6 months with 0% interest. Oh my gulay! Somebody in TPC is selling the unit for 12500 in cold cash. Yey! If I only have the cash right now...
Tada...Presenting...The Macbook Laptop powered by Intel Core 2 Duo. Last week, Apple finally upgraded its Macbook line up to Intel Core 2 Duo. I've been waiting for Apple to upgrade the Macbook to C2D. I've been frequenting numerous apple forums including the local macintosh group in search for the release of Macbook C2D. Now that the Macbook C2D has arrived, all I need to search for is money and lots of it hehehe! My manager asked me earlier if I wanted to avail of the company's perquisite program. I told myself now is the perfect time to buy that dream macbook of mine. Too bad, I turned down her offer because reality set in. I don't have enough moolah to buy the Macbook huhuhu!

If the macbook purchase won't push thru ( 95% it won't :( ) then I have to appease myself with a new desktop. I'm planning to assemble a dual core desktop to go with my 4 years old Pentium 4 1.7 Ghz machine. I've noticed that my brothers are using the computer frequently. They are studying, so they are the priority when it comes to PC use. (Hey! I'm also studying isn't it? Life's unfair huh! Hehehe). Building a new desktop will surely solve the problem except the problem about raising enough moolah hehehe! Hmmm...I've just noticed...Isn't it obvious that I'm an IT guy? The wish list is all about computers, computers and computers.
