First Week High!
I've been with my new employer for more than a week now. I'm still adjusting though. It's my first time to be situated in Manila. Actually, it is to my advantage because I also lived in Manila, but I've been accustomed working at Makati, so I'm missing the Makati crowd. Some observations about my new workplace...The attire here is smart casual, so I go to work in slacks and short sleeves polo. I guess my rubber shoes would have its well deserved rest together with my maong and t shirts. The department where I'm in doesn't have a pantry nor a microwave where you can reheat your food...so bringing some lunch is already out of the question.Good thing there is a canteen for the employees where the meals are subsidized. For just about 50 pesos, you can have a complete meal with softdrinks. Rice is free up to four servings per person. I missed the free ice tea, juice and coffee at ePhil. Here, the only thing free is water and the water dispenser is quite far from my place. Hassle isn't it? As expected, they don't have any recreation room like the ones we had at ePhil. No pingpong or darts break, I guess.
Speaking about breaks, I've noticed that they don't consume the whole 1 hour lunch break. We just eat, talk for a couple of minutes and then go back to our workstations. We normally consume about 30-45 minutes of lunch break time. Pretty corny huh? No long breaks, I guess. During afternoon breaks, we go to a supermarket and buy our sandwiches from there and eat it in front of our workstations. Those guys are really a workaholic bunch, but maybe I guess they still haven't warmed up that's why we don't have that much of a chit chat. I missed also the mais, squidball and siomai break I had with Cands. Too bad, There is no Henlin here I think. Except if I go to Robinsons place.
By the way, Robinsons Place Manila is my new Glorietta now hehehe. Also, I noticed that there are a lot of demonstrations going on around this place, of course Ayala in Makati had its share of demonstrations, but the ones they have here are quite exciting and violent (e.g. police dispersing the rallyist with their baton ). Hmmmm...thats it for now...I've included here a picture of my workstation. It has the same specs(i.e. P4, 2gb ram etc. ) as my pc back in ePhil, it is just that the lcd monitor is an upgrade from the crt monitor I had before. Also, I'm on Skype everyday (YM is blocked, corny!), so guys, if you have any skype ids, just leave it at the comments section or at the shout box.

Celestino-Cruz Wedding 2007

Louie and Teena dropped by last Christmas to deliver their wedding invitation. My Mom, Vane and I were invited to attend their wedding on the 7th of January. I learned that I'll be part of the wedding entourage as a secondary sponsor. I'm quite excited about it because it's my first time to be a part of a wedding entourage. Not many of my friends went through the usual church wedding route and some are not yet married, so there goes my chance to be part of the wedding entourage.
I've got to be ready for this...I have to hunt for a new barong hehehe!Labels: friends wedding
